VARO Unwrapper
VARO’s innovative depalletizing technology for the logistics and packaging industry. Automated cutting and removal of stretch film from pallets for warehouse and production operations.
Automate with the VARO Unwrapper and eliminate bottlenecks
Every day, warehouses and production facilities receive large volumes of pallets. While pallet handling is often automated, the removal of stretch film from inbound shipping pallets is still typically performed manually. This creates a bottleneck that slows down otherwise efficient processes.
Manual unwrapping also impacts safety and working conditions. Operators are exposed to repetitive movements, sharp tools, and unstable loads, increasing the risk of injuries and unplanned downtime.
By automating the unwrapping of shipping pallets, companies remove this bottleneck and eliminate a high-risk manual task. Automating the process improves material flow, supports continuous operations, and significantly enhances safety while enabling better utilization of existing automation systems.
Applications for the VARO Unwrapper
- Warehouses and Distribution Centers – Handling high volumes of pallets with a focus on flow and throughput
- Manufacturing Facilities – Supplying production lines where stable and timely pallet feeding is critical
- Retail and E-Commerce – Handling fast-moving goods and fluctuating demand with little tolerance for delays
- Automated Warehouses – Eliminating manual steps that create bottlenecks in automated material handling systems
The general idea of the unwrapper
VARO offers a solution to common warehouse challenges through an automatic pallet unwrapping system. The fully automated VARO Unwrapper removes stretch film from palletized goods with precision and efficiency.
In developing the solution, we focused on:
- Fast - High capacity with fully automated operation across multiple shifts without interruptions
- Gentle - Removes stretch film without damaging the goods
- Safe - Eliminates the risk of employee injuries associated with manual unwrapping
- Flexible - Easy to integrate into existing lines or operate as a stand-alone solution, helping to create a more efficient flow from day one
Let’s find the right unwrapping solution for your operation
Explore our two standard solutions, Core and Core XL, and find the configuration that matches your pallet dimensions.
VARO Unwrapper Core
is designed to cut and remove stretch film from pallets. Its innovative technology allows the stretch film to be collected separately for recycling, supporting a more sustainable operation.
Technical specifications:
- Dimensions (H × W × L): 3500 × 2146 × 3475 mm
- Weight: 1000 kg
- Power Supply: 380 V, 3-phase
- Air Supply: 6-8 bar
- Pallet size: 800 × 1200 til 1000 × 1200 mm
- Max. pallet height (incl. pallet): 2000 mm
VARO Unwrapper Core XL
is an extended version of the Unwrapper Core. The larger solution is designed to handle tall pallets while maintaining consistent tension in the stretch film throughout the process. Its powerful suction system prevents the film from sticking to products and layer pads, making it ideal for pallets with stacked products and interlayer sheets between layers.
Technical specifications:
- Dimensions (H × W × L): 4300 × 2146 × 3475 mm
- Weight: 1000 kg
- Power Supply: 400 V, 3-phase
- Air Supply: 6–8 bar
- Pallet size: 800 × 1200 til 1000 × 1200 mm
- Max. pallet height (incl. pallet): 2800 mm
VARO Unwrapper Control
VARO Unwrapper Control is specifically developed for pallets with unstable or complex loads that require stabilization during the unwrapping process. It is the ideal solution when products cannot remain stable on their own once the stretch film is removed.
Unlike standard solutions, the Unwrapper Control features enclosing side supports that stabilize and align the pallet before the film is cut and removed. This prevents products from shifting or tipping over and ensures a controlled and safe process. The solution handles all standard pallet sizes and removes stretch film from both the sides and the top of the pallet.
It can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated into existing automated lines and can be supplied with an integrated robotic cell for further handling.
- Plastic containers
- Jerry cans
- Drums
- Bottles
- Other unstable products
Which suction system do you need?
At VARO, we offer two solutions for handling stretch film removed from palletized goods:
Complete VARO Solution
When choosing our complete solution for your VARO Unwrapper, a Waste Handling System (WHS) is included. VARO takes full responsibility for the entire solution, including the WHS.
Customer-Owned WHS
We also supply unwrapping technology to customers who prefer to use their own Waste Handling System. In this case, a number of technical requirements must be met to ensure stable operation. Contact us, and we will provide the necessary specifications.
When using your own WHS, you are fully responsible for handling waste generated during the unwrapping process.
We work closely with your engineers, QA specialists, and operators to ensure that the solution works not only on paper, but also in day-to-day operation and during audits.
