Customized filling solution set new standards at Novozymes
High hygiene requirements
When the Danish company Novozymes was looking for a new filling line, it struggled to find a solution that could meet its demanding hygiene requirements.
As a result, Novozymes turned to VARO, a Danish machine builder with many years of experience in developing customized machinery and automation solutions.
Jesper Hansen, Global Technical Specialist at Novozymes, explains: “It quickly became clear to us that the existing solutions on the market simply could not meet our requirements, and that we therefore needed to look for a different approach. With VARO, we were able to get exactly the solution we wanted.”
Complete filling line
As the dialogue between VARO and Novozymes developed, the project gradually took shape.
“It was a close collaboration from the very beginning, and VARO took all of our requirements into account,” says Jesper Hansen.
The system handles the entire filling process, from depalletizing and filling to lid application and palletizing. It offers a number of unique advantages, including more accurate and faster filling, reduced product waste, full traceability, and easier cleaning and maintenance.
Flexible filling process and high precision
Jesper Hansen highlights the central filling unit as one of the key strengths of the system:
“The fact that the filling lances operate independently of one another gives us a very high degree of flexibility. The lances do not have to ‘wait’ for each other but can continue the filling process regardless of what is happening with the other lances.”
Filling accuracy is another critical factor for Novozymes.
“Precision is always important, but it becomes a critical parameter when filling containers as small as 5 liters with a high-value product like ours. With VARO’s technology, we are consistently able to achieve our filling accuracy targets.”
Accessible equipment and easy maintenance
Easy physical access to key machine components has also made a significant difference in day-to-day operations.
“It is much easier for our technicians to visually inspect the machine, carry out maintenance, and keep it clean. It saves a great deal of time and many man-hours,” says Jesper Hansen.
He concludes:
“Overall, we are extremely satisfied with the system. VARO has developed equipment that has helped us set entirely new standards for our filling process.”
